Trauma-Informed Supervision Group Series
March-April, 2019
REGISTER NOW!

Many newer clinicians are worried, fearful, or hesitant about working with trauma.  The truth is, to some degree, trauma is present for every client and every clinician alike.  It can feel overwhelming to conceptualize and hold client trauma, and it can also trigger our own issues, even when we’re not expecting it.  This series is for students and pre-licensed folks who would like to build knowledge, confidence, and skill in practicing from a trauma-informed perspective.  It is designed for those who are working in outpatient private practice, but anyone interest in trauma-informed care may feel free to apply.

Topics and themes will include:

  • Various trauma modalities and interventions
  • Impact of trauma on minds and bodies
  • Intergenerational transmission of trauma
  • Sociocultural considerations
  • Ethics of trauma work
  • Self-soothing and coping
  • Vicarious trauma
  • Self-awareness/self-of-the-therapist
  • Case consultation

Supervisees are expected to attend all sessions.  The group is closed and will have a maximum of six people.  Each supervisee will share their genogram, and present at least two cases for consultation throughout the series.  Each session is a three-hour, structured format that will include education, self-of-the-therapist, and case consultation.  Concepts related to trauma treatment will be discussed, but please be aware that this is not intended as a substitute for further educational training in trauma or working with various populations.

Though this series will be grounded in self-of-the-therapist awareness and principles, it is not therapy.  If you are unsure of your readiness to attend this series based on your own trauma history, please hold off on registering or reach out for more guidance.

You must have an identified primary supervisor to attend this group series.
